I was a stranger and you took me in.

It’s about one hour left of sunlight and we struggle to find anywhere to pitch our tent along the busy road outside Pt Natales. I’m not gonna lie, it’s not been a grand day and we’re both tired and a bit cranky. We are considering camping just by the road when we see a family pull out from their plot of land with nothing but camping friendly terrain and some building projects on. We stop and ask them if we can pitch our tent on their land and they say of course. They show us how the gate works and then lead us to a little shack in the back with a woodburner, a grassy floor and more than enough space for two. They make us a fire, put a kettle on it and show us where the pet bottles with water is so we can make tea and then just tells us to lock the door before we leave in the morning.
