Romanian people are just so hospitable.
And not just to people they know well, but even to total strangers.
On this trip I fall somewhere in between. I’m visiting a friend in Alba Iulia, whom I know, but her family is welcoming me to their home even though to them, at least from a Finnish perspective, I’m a total stranger.
And what you always get when being invited into a Romanian home, is the best of everything they have to offer. Be it time, food or what ever.
It blows my mind.
After a good night sleep I got woken up on Saturday morning by the sunlight filling the room.
What awaited us in the kitchen was a full buffet including for example… Everything.
The view from the kitchen window. Outskirts of the city. River Ampoi.
But not only did my friends dad welcome into his home and cook food for us, but took the time to show us around town. The whole day.
We got to see some canons shot. Took some awkward tourist pictures. Saw some pretty nice views. Walked, walked and burned. And ate some yummy Hungarian food for lunch (Hungarian blood in my friends family).
Got to see a rock concert at a beer festival.
I hate beer, but appreciated the event. And got some surprisingly good coffee into my system instead.
A Saturday full of sunshine and exploding things. And feet screaming for some rest.
If you ever get a chance to go to Alba Iulia, I think you should not miss the chance.
